There are now two ways to subscribe to Idyllwild Emergency Alerts.
As most of you know, as a public service, Mountain Disaster Preparedness has been sending alerts when an emergency occurs in the Idyllwild, Pine Cove, and Mountain Center areas, such as fires, floods, earthquakes, road conditions, hazardous storms, and other pertinent information. These alerts can be received via Facebook, Twitter, email, or text messages to cell phones.
If you appreciate our alert system, consider making a donation so we can continue to improve this service: http://www.idyllwildemergency.com/donate-3/
Responding to your requests, MDP has invested in major changes for www.idyllwildemergency.com. We are now offering (still free of charge) two types of alerts for text and email messages only:
Option 1) Emergency plus Road Conditions includes all emergencies and road conditions, and can result in numerous posts.
As you will receive both emergency and road alerts, it is important that you read all the emails, especially if it starts with “Emergency” or “Please read.”
Option 2) Emergency Only will result in fewer email or text messages and will be used for disasters, major weather alerts and other urgent events only (no road information).
NOTE: If you are already a subscriber, and would like to change your options, please send an email with details to: email@example.com. Please clearly specify your email address.
Text to Cellphone alerts
Cellphones receive all alerts, both Emergency and Road Incidents.
Note: Charges may apply for text alerts. Please check with your provider for your data plan specifics.
