We have been remiss in communicating with you over the past several months due to technical issues. After many attempts to solve the issues with Gmail, we have moved our files and records to another platform that can support us. Hopefully you all will receive this message and understand our frustration in not being able to communicate with you.
With fire season now lasting all year, it has been difficult to schedule a CERT Training class with IFPD that could be set in stone. We are pleased to announce a class has been scheduled for January 17, 18 and 19. This class will allow a refresher for existing CERT’s and well as certification for new members. A sign-up sheet will be available at the Fire Station later this month. Many of you have expressed an interest in CERT and we encourage you to sign up early as class size will be limited.
TRAINING EXERCISE: NOVEMBER 6TH.
MDP will be conducting an exercise to test our medical and communication systems at our Disaster Aid Stations (DAS) and Advanced Treatment Area (ATA) at 4PM on the 6th. Our CERT, Medical and Communication teams will practice treating injuries we might see during an emergency on the Hill. All members are invited to visit their closest DAS unit to witness/participate in the drill and familiarize themselves with their unit. The drill will last an hour +.
November 6th is election day and we encourage all to vote! Unfortunately, it was the only date that allowed the total participation of MDP, Mile High Radio Club, WNKI, IFPD, and Riverside County Station 23.
ANNUAL MEMBERS MEETING AND BOARD ELECTIONS: TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 20.
Although our 2018 Board members are returning for 2019, our bi laws permit the appointment of secondary officers and directors. For those of you who might be interested in becoming more involved with MDP, these appointments will allow the opportunity to participate in the guidance of MDP going forward. Our Board meets at 4PM on the third Tuesday of each month at the Library. Please join us on the 20th
The November meeting will, along with elections and appointments, address one matter of business: Idyllwild Emergency.
COMMUNITY MEETING: THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 6PM, TOWN HALL: GENERATORS
With power outages becoming more frequent and longer lasting, MDP with the participation of local experts, will address some of the issues facing all who anticipate installing a generator at your home. Generator decisions are complex and confusing. This meeting is offered in an attempt to answer some of your questions. More information will follow.
Thanks for your membership and support of MDP
M. Feyder, President
